This last holiday season, Slava’s SNOWSHOW came to Los Angeles. I’ve stopped counting how many times I’ve seen it since my first time three years ago. But the clowns’ arrival in my home town was a special occasion for me, and I went to almost all twenty-four of the shows they played during their three week run. Something about this repetition changed it for me. By the second week, it no longer felt like a recreational night at the theater but a studious spell in a place of learning. And by the third week of solid repetition, the experience had taken on an air of ritual, of rite, almost of--dare I say it--religion.

This, along with Mahala, was my offering to the clowns' 2nd Annual Fool Film Festival on that New Years Eve.
